Review: Book Review: Becoming a Man: Half a Life Story By Paul Monet Harper If I did not already know who Paul Monet is, I would have difficulty
myself getting into this personal account of his own "coming out
story." At times it seems angry, whiney and blameful, although toward
the end there is some personal redemption is his caring for others. There are
various quirky incidents that migh be filmable
(like the sexual harassment charge, and the friend who pulls out her hair) in
a "World According to Garp" vein. But one
has no bearings when reading the book. There is no table of contents, no
attempt to relate the personal narrative to important pedagogical concepts
(something which I did accomplish in my own book).
